I'm sure there have been loads of awful RWD cars, probably more than FWD given how long it was the default drivetrain setup. The one that strikes me from the off as being totally woeful though has to be this:

most mainstream cars used to be rwd pre the 80's and most were crap to drive.
base spec Cortina, Avenger, Marina, Datsuns etc were all fairly crap to drive.

Basic physics means a crap RWD car will still drive like a RWD car, and plenty of people prefer that to a comparable FWD car.

As a car enthusiast I find it bizarre that people out there quite happily dismiss the vast majority of cars on the market due to their driven wheels and the pathetic nature of RWD vs FWD arguments.

The answer is there are shed loads of st RWD cars, it is usually only a few die hard RWD fans who will argue that everything RWD is great because the concept of drifting exists. A st rwd car does not become great just because of one handling characteristic.
