Price to fit a Focus clutch.

How much should I be looking at, to have a clutch kit fitted.

The car is, a Ford Focus, 1.6 Ghia, on an 04 plate.

Quotes have been everywhere from £90 to £400, for fitting only, I am supplying the parts.

I don't want ripping off, but also want to avoid a very cheap quote, if it means they will be cutting corners.

I should think it might be a 4-6 hour job, but then i havnt done a clutch before

I have no idea what is involved in replacing the clutch on it, so have no idea what corners they can cut.

3.4 hrs. I'd suggest someone doing it for £90 may be using more angle grinders than normal. And the first sign of any judder/slip/noise after it's been fitted will be met with 'must be the dodgy clutch you supplied'. I'd let them supply the parts, makes any further issues a lot simpler to resolve.

A new clutch on my old X reg 1.6 Focus was £330 all in IIRC. No idea how much of that was labour I'm afraid.

Unless the £90 one is a mate, avoid imo. They're under-charging for the job, so chances are they'll rush the whole thing and use an impact wrench to (over) tighten every bolt on the way back up etc.

If you supply I reckon £200ish is about the right price. It's a few hours of a job done right.
