Surrender Insurance Certificate

Just had a form through the post off Admiral , about surrendering your renewal certificate , this is new to me, I've not had to do it before when I've not renewed with an insurance company. Is it actually an offence to not do it as stated on the letter. Just concerned that I surrender it online and then they go and accidently cancel the 2 weeks insurance I have left on the car or something stupid like that.

Surely you'd say you'll send it back at the end of insurance.

They do get a bit stupid about stuff like that, a lot of certs end up being emailed instead, and they ask you to send the email back...
