The TT can only take transverse mounted engines.

It's bad enough they offer a diesel engine in it at all.

It seems to be that diesel TTs are the most popular.

See plenty on the road and nearly all my local dealers cars are diesel models too. Also seem far more pricey compared to the petrol.

Driver 101 is correct, local Audi dealer told me the diesel TT easily out sells the petrol powered ones, And has a better % value after 3 years. People seem to be put off buying petrol cars at the moment.

What would the BIK be on a 3.0TDI.....

I'd guess the vast majority of TT TDIs are lease/company cars used by people who would otherwise have to choose between a Golf TDI, A3 TDI or similar.

I didn't like the diesel engine (although I'm not really a fan of any diesels) worth a shot though. I'd have the 3.2 petrol in every single situation and pay for that fact.

This is exactly it.

As a 'nicer' alternative to a diesel golf, the diesel TT is great.

As a TT, the diesel TT is crap. I had one as a loaner and went out for a drive to see what it was like. Turned home after about 2 mins as it was so boring.

I've had experience with the 3.0 V6 TDI in the A8 and it's superb ! 400 lb ft from 1,500-3,500 rpm and 250 bhp. Gives 155 mph and low six seconds to sixty. In a TT, probably low five second time. Also very smooth and sounds really good too with none of the flat, coarseness that the 2.0 4 cylinder has.

If the 3.2 V6 fits then why not the 3.0 V6 diesel ? It's not especially heavy...

My girlfriend has just got a new diesel TT, She got it purely because she likes the way it looks and the fact its pretty good on fuel is just a bonus. Not everybody is a petrol head there are plenty of people that buy car's purely for their looks my girlfriend actually thinks her TT is fast and tbf most new diesels are quick enough the majority of people these days and people most that travel on 30-40 mph roads everyday can't make use of any extra or better handling t going significantly over the speed limit and driving like a lunatic.

My petrol TT is good fun, so no.

Engine is just too big, if they did cram it in they'd be too much weight over the front wheels. Same reason you can't get a big diesel in a 1-series or A3 etc.

A V6 uses two cylinder heads. Whereas the VR6 uses one.

I don't see the problem if someone wants a nice looking car but does lots of miles.

The diesel haters are never going to like them.

The TT TDI, LOOKS like a sports car though.

For someone who wants the look of a sports cars but is too cost concious to have a proper one then I don't see the issue so long as they don't keep banging on about how fast/torque/mpg it does.

Nothing wrong with the diesel it just does the job a bit differently.im sure the haters just like to talk about diesel rattle or lack of revs to compensate for being shown a clean pair of heels by a diesel humping out over 230lb/ft.

Surprised they havent put the 180hp 1.4tsi into a titty yet.
