Here's the story.
Today was to be a very busy day at work and I needed to be organised, so last night I sorted out the re-cycling and the wheely bin ready for the off in the morning. The good thing about having a HCPU as a work truck means moving junk around is easy. So, said junk was loaded up to take the 300m up to the road ready for collection. That was me organised for the morning.
Alarm went off, cup of tea drunk, so outside I went to find it quite frosty and the Land Rover needing some de-icer (which I then had to rummage for in the garage) Then, turning on the wipers, it blew a fuse. By now I was getting a bit stressed but finally set off to work.
The drive to work is approx 4 miles. I was about 3.5 miles into the short journey when I heard a noise and thought what the hell is that. But in typical Land Rover driver fashion thought it was just another noise to look at later.
On turning in to the farm entrance I thought I had better have a quick look underneath to see what had fallen off this time. What I had forgotten was that the night before, I had put the wheely bin on the 50mm ball hitch to take the bin to the top of the drive in the morning and in my haste to get to work, I'd forgotten that it was still there. This is when I remembered the bin and looked at the back to see a wheel-less wheely bin with some melted plastic at the base where it's wheels used to be - luckily all the rubbish was still in tact. The bin had had a catastrophic axle failure at about 55mph which of course I had chosen to ignore!
Our bin, complete with about 50kgs of rubbish, managed speeds of up to 55mph on country roads and the A433 before it gave up which, to be fair to the bin, was quite impressive.
Work mates thought I was starting a new trend of 'Bring your Rubbish to Work' day ha ha!

That's nothing. In my case, 2 o'clock Saturday morning, I wake up feeling a little bit uncomfortable, so I went to the toilet, did my business, felt a little better. Went back to bed, laid down, felt very nauseous, so got up and threw up repeatedly.
Managed to crash for an hour or so before having to get up and repeat.
Then managed to get about 40 minutes before repeating.
By about 7 a.m, both ends are moderately tender, I'm down to about 5 minutes intervals between visits, and dry heaving.
At 8, I shower, as I'm now shivering uncontrollably. Despite turning bright pink in the shower, I'm still cold. My wife reminds me that we need to be at the other hotel in 90 minutes in order to meet up with the rest of our party, to share a shuttle to the airport. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, we're at Disneyland, and are flying back to Colorado that day.
It's clear that we're not going to make it to the shuttle.
By 11 o'clock, when we have to check out, I have consumed and almost immediately thrown up a liter of water(green bile, nice) and am now so dehydrated the skin around my finger nails is splitting and my hands feel like paper.
We have 3 giant suitcases, 2 carry-ons and another couple of personal items.
Moving at a snails pace, with me pulling 2 of the suitcases and a rucksack on my back, we get to the cab rank, and get a taxi immediately.
Amazingly, it gets us to the airport without my throwing up. More amazingly still, it only costs about $10 more than the shuttle. Even more amazingly, my wife shuts up on request to let me die in peace during the drive.
At the airport, we manage to check in and get through security before I stagger off(though even more slowly than this implies) to throw up again.
After a half hour wait to build up strength, this is repeated. Shortly followed by the first of 4 emails from united announcing delays, and subsequent delays.
So, we're at the airport by 11.20, through security by 11.30 (shortest queue I've ever seen, that's a plus for SNA). Plane eventually departs at 3.55, when it was originally scheduled for 1.25. Marvelous.
I've not chucked for a couple of hours prior to this, so I risk a couple of mouthfuls of coffee, as I'm now getting a truly splendid caffeine deprivation headache. On the plane, I manage to get a full can of full fat coke down me, for the sugar and caffeine.
Immediately following arrival at the gate, this and the coffee is nearly effortlessly deposited into a sick bag, ending two decades of vomit free travel for me, and also proving I'm still sick. Still, I was planning on waiting only until we got to the baggage claim before a planned hurl stop, so this saves a few minutes. A little win, almost.
Did I mention we parked in the economy lot, open to the elements? Which in Colorado means two inches of snow and ice on the car, which we have to clear, at -12c.
That is, after we find the car, which is 10 minutes (more like 20, in my enfeebled state) walk away, at the very edge of the parking lot.
Roads are nice and icy, and its snowing, so a 40 minute drive becomes an hour and a half.
We get home just after nine. Needless to say, I throw up again, shower and go to sleep for twelve hours straight.
I've had better days.

That Audi estate in the background looks hideous. It looks like some steroid abusing A2 that's swallowed a Beetle. It's more obvious and shouty than the mangled Ferrari.
