Which steed is that then?

. I wonder how much fuel duty in its life it has contributed to the tax coffers??? 18.5ish mpg on average but still an absolute animal.
What should you treat the car to at that milage?
The model with the carbon ceramics as standard? If so, are you on the same set of disks and pads from new?!
It's interesting how here in the UK 100k - 150k miles is seen as a great achievement whereas in the USA 150k miles is seen as simply well broken in. Check out the USA Autotrader site and you will find cars with over 150k miles still selling for a decent amount of money compared to their lower mileage counterparts (within reason of course). It's not uncommon in the States for cars to make 250k miles and over there they only really start to gloat when they hit 300k.
I wonder, do cars in the UK just take a bigger beating or is it simply the difference in types of vehicles driven? Historically, the cars in the States from all manufacturers are naturally aspirated 4 - 8 cylinders without much fancy emissions, turbo or diesel technology that can break and end up costing a fortune, hence cars sold in the US might be have been more historically reliable because there is less to go wrong? Perhaps that is why it is not uncommon to see a car in the US with more than 150k miles running just fine?

I think it's a few factors.
US cars have for years been rather simple in design and build. Nothing fancy to go wrong, just large unstressed engines in simple bodies. With many states being warm to help reduce the effects of rust.
I do believe many states don't have an MOT check so cars that in the UK would need major work, can simply be left to run.
The UK, has for years had to endure poor quality home built cars which were worn out and rusted within a decade. So they never covered the same miles. Public attitude to high miles has never changed so people fear high miles.
Throw in the poor residues and letting small issues develop to big ones which end up as a large mot bill which sees many people simply scrap the car if it's 9/10 years old.
Cars will see 200k+ with care, my own car hit 100k and unless curcumstances change, I intend to see 200k next in it.

Cheaper fuel in the US means they've generally hand big unstressed engines which will last longer than smaller higher revving more fuel efficient ones. I suspect the average journey distance in the US is a lot further than in the UK too, so more time spent at cruising speeds for the amount of cold starts. Climate probably helps too, I'd guess cars last longer in drier southern states than in wetter northern areas where they'll rust more.
