Does tint affect AM reception? M3 is **** poor..

I bought my car a week ago. And AM reception is very very poor. Kinda frustrating....

Been on M3cutters and it seems to be a common issue. My car has its rears tinted. Please see below...




Is this metallic tint? I gather it can affect reception? Anyone here had the same issue in their M3?

It's a BMW thing. I had a very similar M3 a few years back, and I thought the AM side of the radio must have been faulty in some way because it wouldn't pick up anything. I took it back to the dealer only to get the immortal "They all do that Sir" (or words to that effect).

What if I change the head unit? DAB or whatever?

DAB requires additional aerial to be fitted. So either get DAB headunit and aerial or try an aftermarket aerial for your current head unit would be my advice.
