anyone rented a supercar from ixrental.com ?

With my bros 30th coming up I was thinking of getting him a gallardo or r8 for the weekend, as he loves those, plus he loathes those track experience type days!

I'm close to ixrental.com so was wondering had anyone dealt with these guys? Good or bad, deposit is big so I don't want to be shafted there

Next closest for those cars is playboysupercars but they are near the wharf for collection and the cars look a bit older

I can't help with this, but the thing that's always bothered me with supercar hire is the mileage limit. I could never stick to 100 miles per day for such high rental costs. I'd want to drive it constantly! I was fortunate enough to have an Evora for two weeks last year - I covered 1200 miles in 4 days, just driving around for fun!

I own and run a car hire company - more run of the mill stuff. I have no experience of these guys.

They are working from serviced / virtual offices offering a postal forwarding business. They have a limited company with no assets to the value you would expect if they owned these cars.

Eyes open and proceed with caution would be my advice.

If you want one over the weekend, you're forced to have it for 3 days ... Makes sense, but that's close to £1600 (according to the quote I just received)! That's for a total of 300 miles too

I'm sure not what you're looking for, but there are always guys advertising hire of Fairly exotic cars (obviously self owned fleet of one) on EBay. Presume to help with the cost if ownership. Is this legit ?

If you're flexible on dates, you absolutely can, I've done so myself many times.

Flight (EasyJet to Nice), c.£75 return.
Car Hire (Hertz), c.£100 for <=48 hours in a Fiat 500 (or similar).
Hotel, c.£100 a night at the Columbus in Monaco, or two nights somewhere in the Mercantour national park for the same price.
Fuel, c.£50.
Food, c.£50.

You could do Col de Turini/Monaco or drive down the coast to San Remo, lots of options, all cheaper than sitting in someone else's car in traffic in England stressing about the insurance excess and looking like a wannabe footballer

This is a better suggestion than sitting in rainy England with a 30-minute mileage allowance and a car you don't own.

It is also well worth taking the daytime Air Monaco helicopter ride from Nice Airport to Monaco (or vice versa). Skims along the coast and price is reasonable at 90 quid or so. Gets a maximum 5 out of 5 on Trip Advisor. And then take a hire car from there.

He loathes track experience days - well, fine, because this isn't one. It's a whole different ball game and if the budget would stretch to it, I can promise he'll never forget it!

Especially if he goes with the group of very handy repeat-offending PHers going back in August..


If you're set on renting something, does he just like supercars in a casual sort of way, or does he really love driving? If the latter, get a Caterham instead, for a fraction of the cost but with ten times the usability and thrill factor!

A Cobra for 3 days is £799 or a Caterham (as just mentioned) £399. They'll deliver the car to the airport too which helps.

More geared towards classics than modern stuff but lots of nice metal and I've used them before with no issues.

Why not hire a replica Ferrari based on an MR2 - much cheaper than getting the real thing, and works just as well as the real thing while slowly going up and down the high street.
