Weird thing is that I reply to them and not a single one has replied back. Why do they even bother if they don't intend to see the scam through?!

Many years ago, in another life, I worked in my family's clothing job buying company. We'd often get "runners", or freelance agents, in our warehouse, looking for samples of items that they could take to their customers and try to sell to make commission.

Often, we'd show one of these agents an item - say a t shirt - and he'd tell us that he could get exactly the same thing for far less money than we wanted.

Our standard reply to this was, "We'll buy as many as you can supply us with".

Not once did they ever come through with the deal.
