I love them though, while I was researching them a while ago, was put off by the Duo Select box. I believe this changed in or around 2007 to a ZF fully automatic which I was informed was a better option for the reliability.

Another thing which put me off was the lack of dealerships, certainly near me, though I'm sure that there are perfectly good Indies around.

I chickened out in the end but will still own one at some point in my driving career.

No idea if what I was told is true, but it gave me cause for concern.

There are full auto ones for only slightly over your budget however, so the choice is yours.

+1, the later ZF equipped cars appear to be the one to go for, I think Evo did a buyers guide on these sometime back, may be worth a look around their website.
