Please help needed

Hi I am new to this I was wondering if any of you could help me I have a four post ramp 3 phase 3 hp and have just moved yard and I am looking for something to help me run it I have normal single phase electric, many people have said I need different things and I am seeking people's advice as to what I need to run it thanks

You are probably getting different advice as there's more than one way to do it. Most supplies are three phase until they hit the meter so you can probably get three phase installed. You can get three phase "convertors" - but that's all I know and have no experience of them. The other possibility is changing the motor(s) to single phase.

None of it's likely to be a cheap fix - it might be cheaper to sell yours and buy a single phase one or do a swap.

3 phases in the main in the ground. A single phase is taken from one of the three in the main to the meter.

More often than not, if 3 phase is present in the property, it would have three fuses.

Also, if you have relocated to another commercial premises it will probably already be there in one form or another.

I need to know more about your motor, but largely :

If you have a three phase motor that can be wired in star or delta you will currently have it in star, as you've been running it off a three phase 415 supply.

If you change the motor to delta (by adjusting/moving some links), you may run it off a single phase supplied inverter.

It really is as simple as that.

Please please please be careful with advice you receive off here, I have seen some incredible things written.

If you have no other reason to need a three phase supply, an inverter will be by far the cheapest option.

Edited to add, please take a good clear picture of the rating plate on your motor, and post it up.

AC motors, which yours will be, can vary, depending upon size, as to what voltages/windings.

For example, and it does vary slightly by make, up to about 4KW they will be 220 delta. 380 star, above 4KW, they tend to be 380 delta, 680 star....... ish !
