We could've done something from Geneva for POTW but decided it was time for something new. Or, rather, old. Something you could buy this weekend, assuming you've got at least a million dollars in your back pocket and can get yourself to Amelia Island in Florida for RM Auctions' sale this weekend. Think of it as Shed, on a slightly bigger budget... You'd best get a wriggle on though.

The car in question is not really what you'd describe as a Shed though. RM describes it in the sales puff as 'the winningest Shelby ever" and the record would appear to back that up. The highly detailed catalogue entry is well worth a read - it's online here with a bunch more pics - and is packed with the kind of anecdotes and stories that would have you handing over that million bucks in a flash.

Highlights? Well even if the formidable race history, associated with driver Charlie Kemp and genius crew chief Pete Hood, doesn't hook you the 'estimated' 450hp 289 V8 and fact this car was recorded at 184mph at Daytona in 1968 might get you interested. That makes it the fastest 289 Shelby of any kind - Cobras included - ever recorded.

Indeed. At Le Mans in 1964 and 1965 the Cobra Daytona Coupes were running at over 190mph down the Mulsanne Straight.

I used to own a 1966 fastback mustang with shelby 350 hertz kit , including shelby drop ...and other mods ......
Great car to look at ...but if honest .....horrible thing to drive .......
