Anyone know anything about Parrot stuff? (Phone, not bird)

Just bought a new (to me) car and noticed that my iphone had "seen" a Parrot kit.

Its a Parrot v5.10c, but nowhere in the car is anything to be seen other than a small mike on the steering column.

Now I can cannot and make calls, but 2 issues.

1. There us a loud humming noise on the other end (not in the car, the person I am calling) and

2. There is nothing else in the car, no screen or buttons or anything...should there be?

Any help appreciated!

Bit of an update. If I turn the headlights off the noise stops and the person on the other end hears me a crisp as a crisp thing.

do you have a hid kit fitted? that can cause interference with radios and hand free kits.

No, just bog standard headlights.

You might have a really old Parrot system. All you had was the mike and a control interface that attached to the dash or the steering wheel. The control interface is probably gone. From memory this was that MKI9000 series.

Otherwise you could remove the glovebox to see if the blue control unit (a few were black but both have the Parrot logo embossed on it) is still present and disconnect it.

Has a download of the manual available for free , they definately came with a little control screen with a red and green button , you might find it tucked up in the dash somewhere , how did you pair it without the buttons though from memory you press both and hold down to pair?
have a scout around if its missing I think its a plug in that could be sourced via ebay or the big pile of crap in the storeroom at your local halfords

If its a mki9000, the only visible items should be the microphone and a small control unit with red/ green buttons. The control unit is wireless with a battery so will not be directly connected to the main parrot box. If you pull the stereo you should find the ISO adapter spliced with the parrot box (blue or black)

If you find someone with a control unit you could test to see if it works.....

Thanks all for the help.

Regarding the pairing, I just got in the car and the iphone showed up a "pArrot" bluetooth device.

I pressed to pair it, and when asked for a PIN, I guessed at 1234 and it connected!

Sound quality is amazing when the lights are off. Also says "phone" on the radio and the volume can be adjusted vis the stereo volume controls on the steering wheel.
