eBay DRL kits, any experience?

First, this is not for reasons of style or wanting to look like I drive an Audi. The government here have decided that you must now drive with lights on at all times, and if I do that my nav screen dims to the point I can't read it properly so I'm looking for an alternative option. What I'm hoping is that the dealer can programme something to put the sidelights on all the time, but if not I'm considering something like this...

They look OK, and fairly OEM but I'm worried about the auto on circuitry will fail and drain my battery or so something else nasty. The car is brand new with keyless go etc so I'm not keen on wrecking the electrics!

The antique built in sat nav in my ZT (which is a BMW system) allows you to turn night mode on/off to prevent the screen dimming when you turn the lights on. Surely your system does the same?

Is it on a Renault Koleos? As per eBay link.

I'd be amazed if the dealer can't activate something.

Anything built in the last 5 years or so should have some sort of programming option for DRLs.

It does, but having the lights on does dim the dash lights too and I'd rather not have to adjust it every time anyway.

It is a new Koleos so I expect the dealer can do something, but I'm a but surprised that a brand new Swiss market car doesn't come with it activated as a default setting if it is available.

All sorted, the nice people at Renault Zurich plugged it into their diagnostic equipment and it's now set so the front lights are always on, but don't dim the nav and dash until the auto light sensor kicks in and illuminates the rear ones to. No need for dodgy Chinese eBay LED ones after all.
