When you are waiting to turn right across a traffic light ..

..controlled junction, do you find that oncoming traffic often consists of a number of vehicles passing through at red (not amber) and thereby placing you in the centre of the junction and being approached by angry drivers from each side who now have a green light?

Unfortunately, driving through red lights has become the norm. If there's a queue, it's extremely rare to see no-one shoot the red light, and four or five cars doing it isn't unusual.

I've noticed recently that the number of people going through red lights seems to be increasing. They probably think if they have seen the light green at some point then it's fair to go through it, regardless of what it's on now. I was almost wiped out by someone going through a red light at a junction after I pulled out on green.

I can honestly say in 15+ years of driving and not to mention walking on London roads every single day I have never seen 4 or 5 cars in a row jump a red light. Increasing yes, but driving through red lights is not, by definition, the 'norm'.

There are also a couple of junctions I use regularly to turn right where I'm sure the lights are mis-timed, turning red later for the oncoming traffic than for the traffic turning right.

Red light jumping is getting worse and worse.

Was at the Globe pub before the England game on Wednesday at Baker Street at rush hour and watching these lights was quite comical at times https://www.google.co.uk/maps?q=Globe&ll=51.52...

Even looks like the white van in the above shot might have attempted it but given up.

Best one was a guy who realised, way after the lights had gone red he wasn't going to get clear of the yellow box junction so stopped and reversed so his car was entirely blocking the pedestrian crossing part. All right in front of an on foot Policeman as well!

I can't remember the last time I drove to work (only passing three sets of traffic lights) and didn't see a driver shoot a red light. 4 or 5 cars going through after a light has gone red is very common around here.

I thought it was only cyclists who jump red lights? Not car drivers, not ever.
