Am I right in thinking that comparison websites are utterly useless if you have a modified car?
I've put a custom stainless system on mine, purely because there was no alternative when the original rusted out because the manufacturer doesn't sell them any more and there are no 'pattern part' type systems available.
As a result of ticking that box, the quotes on confused have nigh on doubled. Now that I quite clearly own a fire breathing 700bhp monster thanks to my non OEM pipework, are these sites effectively worthless as a means of getting cover?

Yes. Is a like for like exhaust really a modification?
I'm willing to bet you haven't got the same brand of tyres or brake pads it had when it was new on either. If it's just the same exhaust but in stainless steel I wouldn't worry about it. If it's a 4" tube poking out of the back of the car though then I'd say that was a modification.
