I'm sure this sort of thing happens many times a day. I don't really see why the badge on the nose of the car makes it worthy of the national news.

Looks like it's only body-work that's damaged anyway. I doubt it'll be hard to repair it.

Something similar happened to my friend's Berlingo.
As it wasn't in the daily mail, it took months to sort, as the driver denied it, despite being on CCTV...

I had a trucker make the same move on a hirecar I had rented. Luckily for me he jammed the truck into the car and got stuck. I asked him for his name and insurance details - he would only give a mobile number for the haulage company (because it's what he'd been told to do).

It took a callout to the police to convince him to give me the actual details. Bit of a waste of my time, but it was all sorted out in the end.

What makes you think it would be written off? Just looks like minor(ish) panel damage to me.

Not sure about that. A spoke and the rim of the rear wheel have taken some damage, and that rear wheel looks toed in at the front as a result to me.
