PCP - Petrol Premium?

I am trying to use man-maths to justify that I can buy and run an F31 328i Sport Touring which costs £32k ish new, for not a lot more than a 320D Sport Touring which costs £31k. Both of these are basic cars without any discount applied.

The car would be bought using a cash for car allowance in lieu of a company car which I have at the moment and so I would want to buy it on a PCP over 48 months.

Is it likely that he monthly payments on the petrol car will be disproportionately larger than the diesel as on the whole, the oily cars tend to have better residuals?

With regards to the running costs, work pay a higher mileage rate for petrols than diesels so that side is covered. Also, before anyone suggests a 5 year old 997 for the same money, as per most company funded car schemes, the car must be less than 5 years old and carry 4 adults in comfort.

If that's the one with the new(ish) twin scroll turbo 28i engine, then I wouldn't have thought it'd be much more than the diesel.

BTW, I have the 28i engine in my E89 Z4 and it's a fantastic engine. Bags of torque, pulls from 1400rpm and is really quite economical - 35-40mpg with up to 45mpg on a motorway run.

And £180 a year to tax too!
