Handing A Car Back?

4 year old car bought from a local garage 2 weeks ago

It may or may not have some issues needing sorted, still TBC

If all is not well can can you just ask for a refund? no finance on the car BTW

Some (any ) details would be helpful .

In general terms: what is the car, what is its mileage, how much did you pay for it, what is the nature of the suspected fault(s)?

All we know at this stage is that it is 4 years old. I assume it was purchased from a dealer (as you're talking of handing it back)?

Also look at some of my posts made on similar threads for an explanation of the "dealer responsibility for faults" continuum - the last one was probably a month ago and there have been maybe 5 others including an explanation of this "continuum" made by me in the past year.

Its a 2010 Nissan Navara (facelift model)with 25k on the clock

Purchased from a local commercial dealer, c/w 6 month warranty less than 2 weeks ago

Just spotted a couple of small areas of rust at the rear window which may or may not get sorted by Nissan (TBC)

There is another couple of minor things needing done but my problem is that it was supposed to be "an honest car", I can handle the usuall wear & tear especially being a commercial vehicle but it has become evident that there has been paint work done so basically Ive lost confidence & really don't like being lied too.

My head is telling me to get rid as there may be more issues yet to uncover

Why does paintwork being done make it less honest? Could just mean it's been looked after.

Unless you have written confirmation from the dealer that the car has never ever had any paintwork? Which I would doubt is the case.

Otherwise, suck it up. I assume the rust was there when you looked at and bought the car?

Did you buy it unseen based on a description provided, or did you view / test drive?

Viewed & test driven twice, a proper wash uncovered the problem areas

Of the 2 other minor issues 1 was known and was already planned to be sorted by the garage

Then tbh, you have no grounds to hand back the car. To even suggest it would be ridiculous.
