Interested in any general opinions and/or direct experience. Appreciate that quotes will be down to location/personal research etc., but forewarned and all of that.

I'm missing not having a sports car for weekend blats/breakfast clubs etc. I'm considering buying a Westfield, but with 3 vehicles already in residence at home there isn't space on the drive. There is no garage at the property I have moved into, so I am looking at renting a garage at another location.

I have found a nice 8ft x 20ft garage (no electricity) for around £50 per month. The rent is reasonable and the area is quiet and secure, but am I going to be looking at a massive hike in insurance to keep the car at a location away from home?

As always, advice from the PH collective always appreciated in advance....

I'm no expert but I'd have thought you'd be fine as long as the garage is secure.

I keep a classic car in a council lock up a twenty minute walk away from my house. No increase in insurance.

Depends on where the garage is and which insurance company you're with. Easiest thing is to ask.

Worst thing about a council garage is you can't fit 90% of the cars on the road inside and be able to get out the door.

Will not be a problem with the westfield I would imagine though.

It's a kit car - you just take it apart before you put it in.

+1

I've been down this route with the Gransport. It seems that as long as the garage is in the same or lower insurance class than the registered address then it is OK.

Doesn't lower the premium though.

Yep, plenty of right answers here.

Depends on the new risk postcode. If, statistically, the theft claim ratio of the garaging address is higher than - theoretically - garaging at your home address, the price could be slightly more. However, none of our scheme penalise/add premium for anyone, purely due to garaging 'away from home'.

If you'd like a rough idea of cost etc. feel free to drop me a DM.

Thanks,

Ash

Thanks everyone
I will do some research over the weekend.
Too much time spent scanning the classifieds and missing out on the road trips out with the redditch boys
