I'm after a Fiesta ST2 on a 2 year business lease as a company car and having never leased before thought id go direct to the local dealer.
3 phone calls later i still don't have a price and they don't seem overly bothered so am thinking of using a leasing company instead.

A dumb question but what benefits are there in using a leasing company instead of going direct through a dealer and are there any pitfalls to look out for?

How do options work though? Does this hold things up for months where a dealer may well have one ready in the network already?

I found similar. Couldn't get a price out of most dealers. The ones that did quote were vastly more expensive than any of the lease companies.

Go to the What Car website and click on the leasing tab.
Enter requirements and they will put forward the best dealer offers in the Uk.
I have just done a deal for the wife on a fiesta Ecoboost 125 titanium via this site with TC Harrison. At 3+35 x£180 on 10k pa, including VAT, has come in typically £20/month cheaper than the lowest priced specialist leasing companies and £100/month cheaper than my local Fraud dealer...
No hidden extras and free delivery- all done by email and over the phone. We could have saved a few more £ by placing a factory order- but need the car quickly- they were incredibly helpful in sourcing right colour etc. from stock- couldn't recommend more highly. We dealt with a lady called Sue.
The car is coming next Friday and actually quite looking forward to it. In all honesty, the test drive put the biggest driving grin on my face since I reluctantly sold my caterham 18 months ago...
Good luck!

When people say '3+35' what does this mean?

Your initial payment is 3 months in one hit. e.g. If your monthly payment is £200. You pay £600 initially. 3x £200

Then you have 35 months of paying £200.

TC Harrison is who I've called... But they seem useless in getting back to me frown
I've chased them twice after my initial call and still no prices from them.

I've just this evening submitted a lease proposal to LINGsCARS (Google her if you're not familiar!). I'll let you know how it goes as I have no idea if I'll actually have a car turn up or not. hehe The local dealer couldn't even get near to the price I've been quoted online, however.

Sometimes dealer finance is cheap but mainly the leasing companies /brokers are better. The main problem with dealers is they take an age to respond

The broker i work for has some fantastic terms on ford but even we lose out to dealers on the odd occasion
Now, Mercedes on the other hand....;-)

Crikey, never seen so many animated gifs on a site recently!

I find it strange that the dealers cant get close to brokers considering they are using the same funding circle.
maybe they just want a bit more of the pot to them selves ( ie being a bit greedy).

example being Mercedes, most are financed through merceds finance lease and there own dealer finance, so you would think they should be able to compete on price, but no there so high on there pricing that you would be a fool to use them when a quick search on the internet can get the price 50% lower

Agree.

Surely Mercedes can get the best discounts and residuals on Mercedes!

They can. But you need to go through a broker who uses merc corporate deals to get them....

Surely this is because dealers have large fixed costs to cover on on line brokers don't?
