Mazda MPS - anyone got one?

Shall I do it?
I Currently have a Seat Ibiza FR TDI 130, which is decent on fuel and okay speed wise but the MPS is my dream car.
I do 20 miles every day to work, what's it like on motorway MPG?
What shall I look for when buying one?
What are the weak points mechanically?
I have about £6,000 to play with, will that be enough for a decent one?
What kind of mileage do these go on until? I know it varies a lot, but are the engines durable?
Does re-mapping add much mpg?

The smoke problem was fixed by replacing the turbo (think it had only covered about 40k miles when it was replaced) and I'm not sure how they fixed the hesitation as I've taken it to the dealer so many times it's all a bit of a blur. I do know they replaced numerous filters and sensors during the investigation process.
I does also like a drink and you have to feed it premium fuel (98+ ron).
I won't be buying another one.

Always wanted one as have had a Mazda 3 Sport for years. What put me off were the fuel economy and the turbo issues mentioned above.
I'm not sure how the 2009 onwards model has faired, but the previous one was terrible on fuel economy and had high VED costs. They do seem quite rapid though and I had some fun on a test drive of the 2009 model.
The later model has cheaper road tax and a nice intake in the bonnet. The model before that was pretty much a sleeper, albeit with a large exhaust.
I'm not sure how the 2009 onwards model has faired, but the previous one was terrible on fuel economy and had high VED costs. They do seem quite rapid though and I had some fun on a test drive of the 2009 model.

Yeah the turbo is a concern, although I bet it comes down to people not knowing how to drive a turbo cars e.g. warming and cooling!I'm not sure how the 2009 onwards model has faired, but the previous one was terrible on fuel economy and had high VED costs. It was all done under warranty but I think the turbo was about £1400. Thankfully as the service from one of the Mazda dealers I took it to was so bad Mazda UK covered the cost of all the work as a good will gesture.
