Clutch Problem

Friend is asking for advice on a clutch problem.

Crack or knock noise when pedal is lifted up to the top when stationary and not in gear.

Not sure if it happens when driving. No noises when clutch fully in or just sat fully out idling.

I thought release bearing? Didn't think DMF as no constant knocking or rattles.

Any thoughts?

Self adjustment mechanism on the pedal spindle starting to break up.

Hydraulic clutch on those.... could be slave cylinder or Master cylinder the source of your noise..

Could also be clutch fork pivot problems.

Dunno but what I do know is that it will take someone 1) competent and 2) inside the car to properly diagnose.

I.e. a mechanic, since your friend can't diagnose, he does not qualify for 1), so he certainly can't repair, so he will be visiting one shortly in any case.
