Track day tyre falling apart ?

Tried a pair of federal rsr yesterday at rockingham , drove down 120 miles and did maybe 6 15 min sessions and found this on the offside . I think there are more left turns so it got more abuse .
It looks like the tread is trying to come off as its pretty much the same depth across the tyre . Certainly don't remember hitting anything .

If you google RSR Splitting you'll get a lot of online reports confirming what you've found. I was looking at a set before the winter as a road tyre for the Scoob but decided against them as Federal don't seem to be admitting to the problem, despite the issue seeming fairly widespread.

Yes, you might expect reduced performance compared to the Michelin offering.Not a dangerous product failure from something that is meant to be safety tested.

Mytyres seem very keen for me to agree to their claims procedure terms which I suspect means that my refund will not be permanent and their technical assessment or more likely coin toss will reject my claim so il have to go via eBay or my credit card for a refund .
I'd be interested to know how you get on with them. I often buy from them, but I've never had a faulty tyre (tbf I tend to stick to what I know).There's a fairly standard industry procedure for faulty tyres, unfortunately it's not great for the customer.
The tyre goes back to the retailer, who then send it back to the manufacturer. They then inspect it, and decide if the tyre was faulty or it was damaged on the vehicle.
If they find the tyre was in fact faulty, they issue a refund based on % of tread life left.

You could try contacting VOSA, they are interested in any safety related problems with tyres.(Their telephone system may not be any better than the ones in India though!)
