Would you buy from a disreputable dealer?

There are a couple of cars I may be interested in later this year (they have been for sale a long time).

However the dealer has some bad reviews online. Newspaper articles online report he has been fined for false advertising, lying about mileage, number of previous keepers etc..

Would it be best to avoid at all costs or have a look but make sure my eyes are wide open?

One or two independent bad reviews does not normally bother me, it's the fact he has been prosecuted that does.

I'd be interested in your thoughts.

If you are a bit of a novice when buying then stay well clear.

If you are a bit tasty with cars then go for it

I'd go and check the car out.

I'd be treating it as a private sale though, I wouldn't pay dealer prices, and wouldn't expect any help if something went wrong.
