What does the voice in your head say to you when you see an interesting motor? Maybe not a drop-dead supercar or some such, but a car that is perhaps unusual and which (rightly or otherwise) has some kind of reputation foisted on it by the reviewers and it never shakes off in the minds of petrolheads who've never driven/owned the same car.

I was passed by a Mitsubishi 3000GT tonight and immediately thought:

Ruinous servicing costs (maybe subconsciously reminded of this)

I've heard this before and don't get it.

I see the base 911 models as more of a sporty GT with a nod to practicality and rear engined heritage. Whereas I see the Cayman as a more focussed and raw mid engined sports car.

Do you see every 3 series on the road and think: couldn't afford an M3.
Every Merc: coudn't afford the AMG.

Why spot at the 911 - couldn't afford a Veyron.

I'm not a Cayman owner or spoiling for a keyboard argument, just genuinely curious.
