I want a Mk 3 Supra, some one talk me into/out of it.

I have found a v nice Mk 3 supra for sale, its from the year i was born too, i know thats not really important but i think its quite cool having a classic thats as old as the person driving it.
its the 3 litre non turbo, and is immaculate, only done 70k miles, got climate control, ABS, power steering, windows and locks, cruise control, factory fitted alarm and leather seats.
I REALLLLY want it, but would have to sell my current car and motorbike to buy it, the car is a bit so-so I do really like it, and have wanted a galant for years, but that was the VR4 4wd one, and this is a lowly 2 litre front wheel drive. electric everything and with only 27k miles from new, but not really worth that much, and my bike is worth a lot more, but really does not get ridden at all now since I got my car licence as i passed my bike test long ago and my bike(s) were my only transport.
Its a 3.0 litre with 200bhp and pretty much 200 ft/lb torque and rear wheel drive, where as my current car is a 2 litre with only 140 bhp and god knows what torque.
its also about 2 hundred quid to insure cheaper than my 2.0 Galant.
talk me into it if it is worth it or out of it if its really not worth it....

Lovely things... I sold mine last year and regretted it since. 
Is the one you are looking at a manual or auto ?
Usual checks for wheelarch and tailgate corrosion. Also head gasket replacement ( even on non turbo).
Feel all the rubber pipes under the bonnet... They become brittle with age and easily split.
I insured mine with Footman James, fully comp, Me and the Mrs with legal stuff and breakdown for a touch over £ 100-00.

It is a manual. I automatically discount autos as i just don't like them. like driving a large road going go kart imo
Hooli, I know I will regret selling the bike, But i know I will just buy another one at a later date probably during the winter when the prices are low to do up over the bad weather. probably something nicer, have had a hankering after something like a CB1300 or GSX14 or even a monster 1100.
It was taken to car shows and is completely standard, so I'm guessing the rubber hoses have been changed, but I don't know so will check.

there is one in the next town over from me, but thats going for more than this one, and its been stored in a garage for many years an does not have tax an MOT, so would rather buy one with tax and MOT so at least i know that it has been through an MOT and probably will not take much if any work to get it through another one, where as the non-mot'ed one could take thousands to get back on the road and cannot really afford that.

I bought a mint mk1 mr2. It spends most of its life in the garage hiding from rain and theives. I would not want it for my only car because I don't like parking it anywhere vulnerable and I couldn't live with watching it get soaked all day, day after day in the work car park during the rainy months.

mines over 90k now and still sweet, Mrs Hooli owns two more.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the above. I had a non turbo manual and it really wasn't very quick at all (especially for the fuel I had to put in it!). Made a nice noise though.Mastodon2 said:

You should never compare cars and bikes.Do it! It will feel fast if you compare it against Galant. It is very good looking car, and i heard that it will handle reasonable well too.
I don't really think that 200 bhp an 200 (near enough) ft lb or torque is going to be that slow imo.
it will be a lot faster than 140 bhp in a 2 litre front wheel drive galant, and its rear wheel drive, so instantly better.
Bikes are not st, they are very very good, but i just don't ride it anymore as I am hankering after something naked and big to limit my top speed shenanigans as i rather like my licence and with a bike that will easy do 155 or more with the sprockets i have on it i probably will not have a licence for that much longer lol, whereas a naked muscle bike will be quick but will have less top speed.
I think I have been talked into it brilliantly
now just need to sell my bike and car to fund it.
how rare are these things btw, as i hardly ever see them for sale, and don't really want to sell my bike an car to not be able to find any for sale when i get the funds :/

Check it over properly, these old girls are at least 22 years old, they were a little prone to rust and though they arent mega complex, they arent that simple either, the non turbo is a better bet for reliability as the turbos did suffer head gasket issues (most I would imagine sorted if still going by now) and were pretty complex in relation to the N/A.
They handle fairly well, I had one briefly that I bought off a dealer mate, the HG failed in a couple of hours, so he got it back, was a turbo, very tail happy but put that down to the 17 inch wheels with crap tyres it had been saddled with, seemed old then back in about 2000.
Still think they are a looker, not as much as the MK4 but definitely a decent looking big coupe, they used to be quite a big deal back then, even in white, with white wheels great white whale 80s spec.

It's all about weight. At 1500kgs, it's not going to set the world alight.For reference, the ~260bhp Lexus LS400 I had never felt fast as it weighed the same as a small moon. It was a great cruiser though.

I never said bikes are st, I said bikes suck, they are for doners and loners, just imo. I like them a lot but would die instantly on one hence my dislike for them if you get what I mean..
