New car bought today - Honda Accord 2.2i CDTi Touring Execut

Its the older shape from 2005 vintage one owner full Honda service history leather electric seats electric sunroof electric boot and factory fitted Nav.
Good set of Michellins on it and the discs and pads appear to have been changed very recently or appear as new.
A very comfy car which replaces the Leon Cupra had to get a bigger car as family expanding and until Ax prices drop to what I'm happy paying for a 3k annual milage ten this really fits the bill.
144k miles
Work to be done Im going to change the bushes and that is all it needs.
One question it has AUX in but where is the actual socket - so the other half can plug in her iPod ?
Personally I'm not struck by the looks of the rear Boxy springs to mind but its a tool for A to B and given what we paid for it within 3 years the fuel saving and CED savings alone over the Leon Cupra would pay for this car...
Its a 5 speed not 6 which I find odd but it does the job well enough.
Another question is there a way of showing on the trip computer range average speed average mpg etc as currently all I can find is trip A and Trip B which only displays distance? Surely it shows more than that?

In short there isn't one. The aux input refers to a boot mounted tape deck or cd deck which was an option on some audio systems.
Unfortunately the trip computer / dash display function wasn't upgraded until the facelift in 2006. Trip comp and external temperature is all you get.

Oh well I'll have to rely on the brim to brim method, I'm expecting to reduce the number of full ups over the year from 12 to 6 ish - you may laugh but that does make a huge difference when the car value is so low

A lady I work with has an 06. She recently wired in an input socket for an mp3 player using an additional wiring loom so now aux means input. She wired it herself and runs the socket through the storage bin above the ashtray. She's a landcape architect in her mid 40's and did it on her own with no instructions. If you can give me til Monday, I'll speak to her and get links to the parts, if you want? Cost her about £30 I think.

That would be great thanksSerious question - We paid £2k its 144k car and 55 reg given we will have it 3years or planning to would you carry on main dealer servicing or given the expected value 3 further years down the line would self serving be better?
I mean oil and filter changes annually - Honda seem to be charging £200-300 on the invoices I've seen each year I'm thinking heck I'll save the £600-900 on servicing costs and do it myself?
Given I'd keep those receipts as evidence of the work done would it be silly to go down the paying for "VAT" registered garages to do it? I mean how much less would its market value be - way I look at it its condition at that age length of MOT and receipts of work done though if gues some may think that those bits of work were never actually done?

If you are able to service it yourself why would you pay Honda to do it for you?
Just make sure it is the correct grade oil. Despite what the owners manual says, Honda now recommend fully synthetic 0w-30 (i think - worth double checking on the type accord forum).
If the incorrect grade of oil is used or service intervals are missed, can chain woes can follow.

There's no point maintaining MDSH on a car of that age/miles/value. Buyers at that end of the market just don't expect it. As long as it has evidence of servicing you'll have no trouble shifting it.
That's what I thought MOT length and evidence it's done - or assume it isn't and assume as soon as they get it change all the fluids and filters its cheap to do and you know its done. Welshbeef said:

I've just double checked and it is 0w-30 fully synth that is now recommended. the other thing you'll need to know is that these cars are ridiculously sensitive to fuel filters. If you don't use an oem Bosch filter, its almost certain you'll have issues (Facelift cars use a Denso filter). I don't know about being excited to drive it though! The stereo isn't quite as good as the one in I had in the S60 T5 that preceded it but I reckon the Accord's seats are better.
I have an 08 2.4 tourer with a slush box and all the toys. Ref the aux button, it does nothing unless you have the boot mounted changer, which I'm not even sure was an option on the tourer! Mine has a 6cd changer under the nav anyway, which is weird.
There is a kit if I remember rightly but the guy who posted above, if you update the thread I will be very interested.
I service my own and it's dead easy. Lots of access and things well placed. Feels like it'll go on forever.

I used the xcarlink in my Mazda to connect iPod etc. Good bit of kit.
