Picked my last car in about 90 seconds, Boss gave me the name of the dealer network we used and a rough budget.

My wife however has been looking for 12 months now, and still hasn't decided what she wants.

It seems like about four years ago JDM turbo cars in nice condition were still easy to find. Some were silly money but they were always available. I think many of those cars have been scrapped now.
Have you thought about getting the nicest Mr2 NA you can find and swapping a turbo engine and gearbox into it? Also many people have done V8/V6 conversions on the NA model. I know the cost will probably be a lot more than finding an Mr2 Turbo in good condition but it's another idea.
Also this is either going to sound stupidly obvious or a good idea but have you checked the MR2 owners club website? They must have a 'for sale' or 'classifieds' section.

12 months for me. Looking everyday on PH, Autotrader, owners clubs etc.

Knew the exact spec of MK2 Golf GTi I wanted. Eventually found it and moved very quickly (same day) to make sure I got it.

Nearly 6 years on I've still got it, but it's about to be put up for sale. Going to be gutted to see it go but needs must...

I will always wait for the exact right spec to come up - makes it so much more rewarding when it does and you get it home for the first time!

About 12 months for me too. Looked at everything from audi s3s to imprezas. The amount of tat that is described as "immaculate" is surprising and really annoyed me. Ended up with an e46 325ci which I'm chuffed with. It does work out, just takes a while that's all.

Sold mine a few years back. I was asking top money and thought it would take a while, how wrong could I have been. The phone was ringing non-stop with people offering to buy it straight away. V5 was signed over in less than 24 hours or going on sale. I thought i could easily pick up another later on but it proven impossible.

I miss that car so much.

I've been waiting a good 4-6 and counting. Not even after anything special, just a Saab aero estate without spaceship milage. My issue is I'm lazy and I don't want to travel too far to get one, seems when they do turn up they're at the other end of the country.

Trovoit runs a daily search for me and I personally search eBay, Imoc and PH daily.

There is a lot of crud about.

+Decently big (MX5 bad, XJS good)

Doesn't bloody exist.
