Article: 458 Speciale vs 991 GT3 (Autocar)

A number of you have probably seen this, but I couldn't find a discussion around this article or these two cars after a quick PH search.

Which car would you have? I'm quite torn.

I have ownership experience of a 997 GT3 and a Challenge Stradale. Whilst thse two are not quite as comparable as the Speciale and 991 GT3, it is a very similar comparison.

My 997 GT3 was the better car, but the Stradale is more fun. It sounds like the GT3 and Speciale are pretty much dead even on everything (including fun factor), but interior. I think that alone would make me buy the Speciale over the GT3 if funds weren't an issue. Looks wise, I think both are a dead heat again but in different ways - the Porsche is maybe, a more well rounded design.

Let's keep the dumb jokes about GT3s on fire out of it (unless it really very funny!). Could the guy with the Lambo not mention that Lambo, even though the word Ferrari is part of this post.

I'm no fan of Ferrari by a long shot, but if it was my money that's where it would be every day of the week.

As harsh has it sounds, at the end of the day the GT3 looks little more than a souped up 911, while the Ferrari is a Ferrari.

I think I'd go with the GT3 on the grounds that I'd worry about it less.

If money were no object then the 458.

The GT3 is a complete bargain and there is nothing to touch it for the same money but then they said that about the last 997 Gen 2 GT3 v the 430 Scud.

To put it another way if I opened my garage door to see a 991 GT3 in there I wouldn't feel upset that it wasnt a Speciale.

GT3 for me, it just looks so good, the 458 is fugly and the special is a fugly car with a barry stripe

It would have to be the Speciale for me, even though the name sounds like a Pizza of some description.

I'd love either, and nobody in their right mind could say that they would be disappointed with one or the other. The GT3 is obviously a capable car, but, as cliched as it is, it leaves me a little cold when compared to the Ferrari.

But, the point is moot, as i'm not in a position to buy either. For those that are, it's a lovely dilemma to be in!
