South Coast to derestricted Autobahns...best route?

Hi guys,

Later in the year I'm looking at heading to Germany for a long weekend and i really want to do a high speed run in the 745i and see what she's got....and to experience legal, sustained high speed driving. I'll be coming from Southampton so Dover to Calais ferry looks like the best bet, and then a drive over to Germany.

Not all autobahns are limit-less so does anyone have any good stretches which are nearest that side of Germany which would be ideal? Looking to go July/August time at a guess and a nice early morning Sunday run when traffic should hopefully be clear.

I have reached very close to VMax in the 745i in the UK, but not sure on exact speed as the needle stops at 160 (was still, slowly, accelerating) and no GPS on me.

How's the 550i treating you?

Good cheers. All it's needed is a diversity antenna (£200) and servicing. Went through a phase of test driving a load of different things a few months back, but none compared, so she stays until I get twitchy again!

I never said it was on a public road. Plenty of Vmax events etc on runways, might have had dodgy speed trap....
