A tip. Don't turn up with new parts and expect the garage to fit them for the cost of an hour's labour. They won't want the work. Let them supply the parts. Same applies to your upper control arms.

I always supply my own parts when my car has work done. They tend to be bigger jobs like cambelts and flywheels/clutches though. So there's a few hours labour in it for them. I pay cash of course....

Ive a 52 plate B6 Audi and had a full service completed last week at a local indie.

Full major service, front brake pads, rear brake pads and discs - £360.

I was really pleased with the work and the price.

For rear discs, I would expect they might take longer than an hour. Either nicely welded on over the years they've likely been there, or even more of a pain in the arse if you have a shoe-in-disc type handbrake. I don't know if that's the case on a B6, as I remember it wasn't on my B5.

£100 would be a sensible maximum anywhere outside of main dealers, I think. If no shoe-in-disc, 1.5hrs at most.
