Anything better than Rain X?

Hi

I've been using Rain X for a while now, pretty happy with it so far.

That said, I'm picking up a new car later today and I wondered, whilst the windscreen is 'as new', is there anything better to try?

Your thoughts?

I've heard that G-Techniq G1 is meant to be superior to RainX. Longer lasting and less smeary.

However, it's bloody pricey.

I've found that RainX smears for a second after wiping which can make driving a bit more difficult at night time on a country road. I'd be interested to hear if there is anything better.

I recently bought some Car Chem glass sealant and it's brilliant (as is their Clarity glass cleaner).

Almost anything is better than rain x

I actually use a potatoe cut in half and smear the front of my visor with it.

It makes terrible smears that I can hardly see through, but I still feel its better than supporting 'brake'

On a similar subject- whats the best thing for removing crud off the glass?

I've been using a wash & wax, and it leaves a hazy skin on the glass for about a second after being wiped.

White vinegar?

Heard very good things about Gtechniq G1 but still using RainX myself - as mentioned above, the only down side is having to reapply it every month or so. Works well when its "fresh" though

As above; Car Chem Clarity cleaner us amazing!

About £8 for a decent sized bottle.

I live right by the sea and keeping the windows clean is a PITA; the cleaner and sealant really have made life a lot easier.

G1 is great. It's a bit of a hassle to apply, but once a year should be enough.

Only complaint is that it causes your wipers to judder a bit for the first few times it rains, but after that it's great.

Another vote for G-Techniq, you may require more than one small bottle if you want todo all your windows. I have had mines on for a good 6 months now and its still working pretty well.

None of the above.

PIAA wipers are made of silicone, so the wiping action deposits more silicone so they get better with use, rather than something like Rain-x which needs reapplying.

PIAA are one of the very very few products that will exceed your expectations.

They are that good. I have no affiliation with PIAA.
