Trying to help Parkers.com out

Doing a bit of research recently into midsize 4wd cars for Mrs Cjelli. Starting a new job in the sticks, and wants something a bit that way inclined.

Inevitably, find my way on to Parkers, looking at the Mini Countryman facts and figures.

Looking through, seemed odd there were no entries for the Cooper SD All4 in manual.

So I dropped them a line,
"Quick note regarding the facts and figure section for the Mini Countryman. You only seem to have figures listed for the automatic versions of the 2.0 diesel models, no manual details at all. Thanks in advance."

To which they responded,
"Hi – thanks for the email

The 2.0D only comes as an auto model as a ‘Cooper’.

The manual 2.0D is the Cooper ‘S’

So far so confused.

I checked my sources and sent them a bit more detail,
"Thanks for your reply.

From further research, I still think you have it wrong. The Cooper S is a petrol model, the Cooper SD is the diesel. The SD definitely seems to be available as manual or auto.

Our info from CAP (which originates from the manufacturer) says that the Cooper S also included 2.0D models.

The ‘Cooper S’ variants on Parkers run under the ‘Cooper S’ range rather than the ‘Countryman’ as they are considered the ‘Hot’ versions.

The JCW being the Superhot version, so you will find Countryman ranges under both.

Now, I'm not one to let the facts stand in the way of a good argument, but surely they can see that something in their data is awry?

Or am I missing something?

I don't know if it has been corrected, but Parkers had the E36 318ti as being turbocharged. Ti doesn't stand for that, fools!

Dunno where their data originates, but I've seen plenty of errors over the years - same with What Car (tables at the back of the mag)

And errors are inevitable, but if I was in that line of business, I like to think I'd appreciate useful feedback to improve my service.

Felt a bit like I'd asked for the full argument, or at least the half hour.
