average speed cameras on the m25 through roadworks

whilst driving on the m25 j21 to j 27 there was average speed cameras up(specs I believe they are called0 ,
There was road works going on at the time and it was a 50mph limit,
for a little stretch of the motorway I was doing 65- 70,for some reason I hadn't realised the speed limit
, ive heard this cameras work in pairs so if I went through say 4 to 5 pairs would I receive 4 fines and points,
or will it be between say camera 1 and camera 5,

Common sense says one lot of penalties, otherwise a lot of people would be on instant bans.

Depends which 2 or more are linked. At night you can see the linked ones as they glow purple (UV?).

i thought they was just sets of two, does it mean more fines if they are linked

If you have 4 camera's it might not be 1 linked with 2 and 3 linked with 4, could be 1 and 3 etc.

but if you went past two linked sets would that be two fines and points,or classed as one fine

AFAIK, if it's one journey, it's one fine and one endorsement. Why did you 'not realise' you were doing 60-70?

There was no signs on the gantry,just at the side of the road by the roadworks,as I come on to the junction I just carried on with the flow,I wasn't sure if I was lost ,so was worried where I was,no excuse I know,

That was my general understanding also.
