New Vauxhall (Mokka) - what discount are people getting?

Hi all,

My Grandmother is on the hunt for a new car, I don't much fancy going into details but she has a very odd way of choosing cars and it is likely we'll wind up with a Vauxhall Mokka.

Now I went to a Vauxhall dealership today and all they seemed to want to talk about is discount this, finance deal that.

My Grandmother is retired and no-one is eligible for any of the millions of criteria that Vauxhall arbitrarily have to get discounts. So, I was wondering what kind of discounts people are getting on a new Vauxhall at the minute?

I haven't looked at one in a long time but the last time I looked they were knocking lumps off the price before you even started.

Anyone bought a new Vauxhall recently and can give me an idea of what a realistic discount is?

A friend just got one after waiting for about five months, if the delivery is that long maybe discounts will be hard to come by, could just be a poor dealer messing them about though.

Five months!?

Frankly I still can't get around their spec level which includes a sat nav with the mid-range but not at the higher range.

I find it slightly sickening that my other half's SEAT had a £10k price and comes with nav, but a £24k vauxhall it is still a £1k option.

Like I said, I would probably choose any car other than a vauxhall but it is very strange criteria I have to deal with here...

Just a pity the Ecosport is hideous looking. On saying that the Mokka is no great looker, but still looks better than the Ecosport.

I've driven one, and its competitors. However much discount you're getting, it's not enough..

Yes it is depressing isn't it?

I find it incredibly hard to bite my tongue when they try and describe the car as "quite quick", "luxurious", etc...

If I had any real sway I would just stick her in a 5 year old BMW 320D estate for half the money, but like I said - stupid criteria are at play here.

I'm hoping for help here as I have literally no clue about Vauxhalls other than to know I would personally never have bought one anyway!!

We hired one recently, less than 300 miles on the clock and it had a squeaky dashboard and the heater fan rattled continuously. It just felt poorly built - and I'm a fan of most vauxhalls.

Get an extended test drive before taking the plunge.

Would have been my thoughts too, particularly the Nissan, but as I have said I am stuck for options here!

I literally cannot stress enough, there is basically nothing I can do to persuade her that this Vauxhall is a POS - if you offered her a 7 series for the same money she would turn it down! We are not dealing with a normal person here!

I'm sure we all know similar people who have utterly no concept of taking advice!

Although not a fan of this class of car, I've seen a few of these about and they are probably "better" looking than its competitors. Although its a bit like saying a zit is better looking than a wart!

Why is she so keen on the Mokka, though? The Qashqai is much better!

The Mokka is much the same car as the Chevrolet Trax - so much the same (budget average) quality?

... and Chevrolet is GM's "budget" brand.

The Trax is £15,495 and you can gat £2,000 off that quite easily.

Had the misfortune of being given one as a hire car last week. It was the 1.4T petrol and was utterly, insanely awful. Having said that I appreciate the car isn't for you.
