Smallest car you've moved an engine in? (aka will it fit?)

So, I might have stumbled upon a cheap 1.8T lump that will work out cheaper than changing the head gasket on my A6....

The A6 would've been my car of choice for moving an engine, but I'm left with a Citroen AX Will it fit? What's the smallest, most ridiculous vehicle you've moved an engine in?

Easily fit with the back seats down, or perhaps up.

I once moved 20 paving slabs in the back of my AX GT. The big square concrete ones. Reckoned I had over 600kg on board. Exhaust was scraping on manhole covers.

I would have said so. Smallest I've done is Mk3 Golf but there was bags of room. Can be tricky to load unless there's two of you and you're powerfully built..

With the rear seats down it should fit no problem. Though, getting it in and out again will be interesting. Also take a picture of the rear suspension

Unbolt front passenger seat and stick it in the footwell, gives you more height and don't have to lift it as high. Added benefit of if you have to brake sharply you wont have 200kg of engine headed for the back of your head.

We moved a mini engine in the back of my MG Metro once

3 blokes to lift it in, 2 blokes in the front seats, one bloke in the back with the back seats down, holding the engine roughly upright, smoking a fag

Boat Anchor Ford Essex V6 in a 1.2 Nova, had the gearbox as well!

Complete MG Metro Turbo lump in a Mini (removed passenger seat on put on the back the back seats, engine on the floor) and a cylinder head in the boot for good luck.

Had a CVH and gearbox on the back seat of a Mondeo, didnt really give it too much hassle to be honest.

The thing with it is having a solid enough base, seats can be a bit too flimsy and rear boot boards are going to snap quick. Pair of short planks from the rear of the boot across to folded down back seats would be fine, seatbelts wrapped around it and back onto the mounting points would be my choice

About 400lbs for the engine alone!! I did push it as far forward as I could, rear seats down, but steering was amusingly light!!!!
