Attempted murder by HGV

I exaggerate. Probably.
This morning joined the M62 from the M18. This junction has two lanes. I was in Lane 2, and a HGV in lane 1.
On joining the M62 I duly moved over quickly to Lane 2 to let the HGV come onto Lane 1. Said lorry decided that Lane 1 was not good enough, and it preferred Lane 2, despite the fact that I was occupying that piece of tarmac. In the end had to move to Lane 3, with no-time to check for traffic. Very much not impressed.
I slowed and got the company number, and while behind (he'd overtaken me while I had slowed) him spoke to the fleet manager. Whether it makes a difference who knows, although I did get an apology for what it's worth.
I suspect the driver had guessed what I was up to, as he stopped on the hard shoulder (I was driving sensibly - not tailgating or intimidating in anyway).
I'm fed up with being intimidated by bully HGV's, and feel invigorated by taking some action, no matter how worthless.

Perhaps he didn't see you, or it was an innocent mistake, who knows?
Had the same issue today but not as bad, directing a reversing vehicle into the road and a van driver decided he was going to squeeze by, que locked up brakes and a few harsh words, a polite call to his boss will have the desired effect I hope.
Saved it on my CCTV should his boss want to see it. Seems everyone these days has no respect for others and all in a rush.

This It's a good job transport managers generally don't take these calls seriously. One call a week, yes.. One call now and then, no.
A bit more patience and planning (why rush to overtake? You've both just joined a new road, it's reasonable to assume that further manoeuvres will take place (just like you, straight to lane 2)) from the OP this would of never happened.

About 100yards later he had moved into L1, a car L2 (who I was following) indicated to move into a gap in L1, the HGV absolutely floored it to stop him coming in
he was committed as the space was there when he began his maneuver. The HGV slammed on again.
I lost my temper and floored it to the side of the HGV with my horn blaring, he gave me the coffee beans
Why oh why was a bloke driving around in a bin truck like HGV trying to rear end people? I don't understand the bullying aspect of it, he's no different to a car driver once someones pulled him out of the cab to kick his head in

There are good and bad drivers, regardless of what you are steering. I say blind spot, plus it would do us all good to have an understanding of the inputs needed and the consequences of getting evasive action wrong when driving a truck. Further, that's before considering the load the truck is carrying. Some nasty stuff swilling around in tankers on the roads that you wouldn't have any idea about.

Totally agree.I employ 35 LGV Drivers and have the greatest of respect for them. They work hard, have to concentrate far more than a car driver and have to deal with car drivers who've no idea of the skill required to drive a truck. I think the point made about loads is very relevant and it's not just tankers than carry potentially awkward or hazardous materials.

I have an issue with HGVs overtaking on a 2 lane carriageway due to their lack of courtesy to other (faster) traffic.
Best thing to do is get past them quickly (and safely) before they randomly pull out to pass the truck/van/caravan (and increasingly worrying, cars) at 1 mph quicker!
Respect the skill it takes (I have been there), but they should be banned from overtaking unless on a 3+ lane carriageway!
I don't think I would have been in a blind spot, having driven 7.5 tonnerd with fewer mirrors. Plus if he had not got the time to understand the traffic, he should not have been pulling out.
I'm happy to give ground to courteous drivers, this guy just punted me into lane 3 and if someone had been making progress there would have been a collision.
I drive lots of miles, with few incidents and know when I am in the wrong. On this occasion I was not.
