Living with a LPG car
Discussion
How big is the LPG tank?
you have to get used to filling up with gas a lot if you do long journeys, but well worth it for the huge saving if doing many miles.
you get used to the filler after a few goes.
A decent system you wont even notice it switching over from petrol to gas, should drive just the same with a modern system, only a small loss of performance hence works well on powerfull cars.
There is an appp for LPG stations you soon get to kmow where your local ones are, not so many in rural spots.
I've had a few LPG equiped older cars and when they start to go wrong they can be a pain to put right, you need a good local LPG specialist if its not repliable as most normal garages dont want to get involved.
The best ones I've had have been on bigger engines, (2.8,4.2 etc where it really makes sense to have it).
I am just about to retro fit an LPG kit to my tow car which is a 3.0 petrol its going to save me a fortune in fuel!

Brother and dad have owned a few LPG car's and no extra hassle in running them, the LPG tank size determines how much it costs to fill. Some mechanic's have said they don't want to work on LPG car's but that's never an issue for us.
If my commute changes soon (I so hope it does!) then I'll be LPG'ing my Lexus GS300

LPG is fine especially on large engined cars, some more than others mind.
Availability is the key. If you have to make trips to get fuel its pointless.
On paper it seems filling stations are everywhere but in reality that isn't the case. See where your nearest ones are.
If that looks vaguely sensible then do it.

My dad has and LPG Jeep and it's fine - once you learn where your local LPG stations are you're over the main hurdle, and most decent service stations have it so it's easy to get on long trips. It's recommended that you service it every year, costs around £150. Plenty of people don't bother but I probably would considering it'll save you a lot more than £150 over a year.
I did 30k in an lpg equipped 5 series and then had my accord done back in December. Done about 10k since
It's a spare wheel well tank which is 62l. In reality this means I get 52l in it. My accord averaged 32 on petrol before I changed it and it's now averaging 26, calculated from receipts. This represents approx 40% fuel cost saving
The only issue I have is range. I'm lucky to get 300 on a tank. I can often cover more than this for work in a day which makes it a pain compared to petrol.
I regularly end up dipping into the unleaded as a range extender.
There is an iPhone app for fuel stations which can be hit and miss but more hit than miss.
On balance, if it's the only way you'd contemplate the car financially then do it.
