2-3k tip run car...

Having made the mistake (yes really) of swapping my 51 plate Megane Scenic for an MX5, I now find I need a tip run car again that will take a bathtub in the back. Another mpv would be dismal but effective, the Renault having rear seats you can completely remove, so was just a van. As I don't want a van, will I get a bath in the back of say, a V70???

Is the MX5 type approved for towing a small trailer?

Edit: the Space is generally ok for a bathtub (from memory - I had an xc90 that was same rough dimensions in the boot (not counting the additional height)). I seem to remember that the ones mentioned above aren't too far different size-wise (kangoo being the exception as it is more towards the van end of the spectrum but is meant to be a superb load lugger.

8 baths, 6 kitchens and 5 gardens (one house has a granny annex) to do in the next 6-9 months hence buying, not hiring, that's remove and replace, so 16 bathtubs...

850 sounds positive, pleased a V70 should work too,they seem to run forever.

Is an early Disco a bad idea?

Discoverys seem way overpriced at that price point iyswim. Alternative 4x4s may offer better value (e.g. Merc ml, volvo xc90 - may be a very leggy one though, or jeep of some sort). All expensive when they go wrong though.

Surely a Mondeo is the right choice at this price point. Buy carefully and you should lose very little.

I'd risk a high miler mk 3 I think, just because I prefer the looks!

My E39 touring fits a bath tub in the back. It was excellent at taking all the st the tt who sold me my last house left hanging around the place. I should have charged the )

Cost 2.5K and have spent 300 quid maintaining it since over 14 months and 15K miles.

so to recap-

- E class is mahoosive if I can find a non-rusty one,
- E39 also big,
- Disco= world of pain
- Mk3 Mondeos for 2k? Mad, so much car...
- But an 850/V70 is sensible

Now, accepting its a bit Billybob, is a Ford Explorer a really silly idea?

It's the 4.0 V6-ness (and that they all seem to be LPG converted) that appeals, should I stop being daft andd just go and buy a Volvo?

If you look in the bargain basement thread, rollcage has just bought a v70 for buttons that he might be having second thoughts about (that's my interpretation, not what he actually said) so it might be worth PM-ing him.

I'm pretty sure an Octavia will take a bath if you fold the seats down, too. Probably even the hatch.

The correct answer is probably an old Mondeo though.
