Help! S4 died 150 miles from home.
Discussion
Just started. Journey home from visiting friends in Mansfield, on journey back to Suffolk, Audi S4 b8 has just cut out going along straight flat @ 50, no warning , no lights on dash, now spins over but won't fire. Had a look under bonnet and can't see anything out of place , I'm fairly hands on with a few basic tools. Any body got any ideas what I can hit or fiddle with? Half tank of fuel and turns over well. HELP!!

Recently had same symptoms (different car) and it was the fuel pump fuse.
Yeah this or something else electrical like cam/crank position sensor. It should log a code that the AA man can read then you'll know ... but doubt they'll carry the part so looks like you'll be towed or carried home.Too much electrickery on modern cars

Someone is going to ask you why you don't have breakdown cover.
AA are coming but just feel like I should be doing some thing.Boobonman said:

Should that happen if the engine isn't turning?
Yes. The pump is primed before you turn the engine over. My own Bosch ECU/DMEd car only energises the fuel pump when the engine is spinning quickly enough.

Has the OP actually checked there's fuel in it? Otherwise we're just assuming the fuel gauge was functioning correctly. When a car cuts out for seemingly no reason that's a pretty silly assumption to make.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
