Hi Guys,

I have agreed to purchase a MK5 Golf GTI with a FULL VW service history. The owner (whom I trust) has supplied me with the vehicle details and also the dealer details along with the name of the chap whom he has dealt with. Unfortunately due to Data protection (I totally understand there stance on this) I am unable to get any details of the services carried out from VW until I actually have the log book to hand.

Would any of you wonderful chaps be able to verify/check/provide me with some details?

Thanks again,
Faz

Ed.

Sorry can't help with getting the history, data protection and health and safety are the universal excuses for laziness.
Data protection is meant to protect people, how does a vehicle service history threaten this?

I think it's probably because it's not my car yet? I genuinely don't know how it threatens the current owners data protection, but its the line I was told by the dealer which had done the work on the car.

Hasn't the owner got the service book?

What do you expect FULL VW service history to be? It'll basically be lots of oil changes and some checks now again.

The car is pretty far from me so therefore I haven't been able to go through the paperwork myself. The owner has everything. In fact he has agreed to scan over some of the more recent invoices. I was just hoping that somebody here would be able to at least check and maybe provide me with the service record. This would perhaps allow me to make sure I could query any discrepancies if there were any.

Thanks,
Faz

Speak to VW Customer Services, they'll give it you (and a full list of optional spec).

(Audi do this, so I see no reason why VW wouldn't do it - it's probably the same call centre).

If you haven't got the answer yet. Ping me over the registration number and I'll check what service & warranty work it's had done, what mileages etc.

Hi all, for the benefit of the thread, it is my car that Faizan is in the process of buying.

I called VW Huddersfield this morning in an attempt to give them my permission to speak to Faizan however their stance is firm, they will only discuss the car with it's current owner.

This of course puts me in a rather difficult position. My relationship with the dealership goes back over a decade and I would have thought with my permission they'd be more than happy to discuss the validity of their work with a potential buyer.

Hi Phil, if you are able to do this for Faizan I'd be very grateful. I'm seriously at a loss as to why my dealership refuse to speak to anyone else.
