What 4x4 Tow Vehicle - Min 2200kg - Shorter The Better

I've been using my LWB T4 and my crewcab f150 to tow various cars on my 16' trailer and whilst on the road they are fine when trying to manoeuvre around the yard they are a nightmare both because they are long and because the visibility is poor.

So I'm wondering about buying something else, criteria are:

£5k max
4x4
Must legally tow 2200kg
Shorter the better
Faster and nicer the better too - hence no defenders please.
Must seat at least 3

A pick up would be nice but I don't think there are any short, 4wd, 3 seaters - except defenders

The VW Tiguan (diesel) seems to be rated at 2.2 tonnes, I doubt you'll find anything much smaller than that. Interestingly so is the Passat R36 if you don't need the ground clearance.

Not sure about prices though. I suppose they're both relatively new vehicles.

Put a tow hitch on the front bumper for maneuvering at you destination. A shorter wheel base won't ride so nice when you are towing and I doubt any of them have a particularly small turning circle.

Now you mention it I've seen this on old landys.

It's a bit of a faff but it might be the sensible solution - assuming I can mount one on the f150 - the t4 certainly can't

Get a cheap Jimny or Vitara (or a 90...) for the yard work.

I think the tow hitch on the front is for putting the boat in the water and seeing what you are doing.
