Moment of boredom thought

But for those high insurance, performance, low mpg cars to be cheaper/ cheapest in the model range smile
I wander what the market would be like say a new M3 was cheaper than the 320i and 320d lol

Do you think excluding the non petrol heads like people on the forum would still go for the sensible 320d option?

Considering an E46 M3 is more or less the same money as an E90 330D, I would say yes - even as a new prospect I think people in this country seem to have been conditioned to go for diesel automatically, without any real thoughts of how much running costs are almost irrelevant when spending 40K on a car. ie. you're going to suffer more in depreciation than an owner of a 10-year old M3 will get stung for fuel.

Yes.

You'll get plenty of idiots who will spend 20k on a car and rejoice that they're saving £10 a week on fuel and £100 a year in RFL.
