Non Approved Warranty

Can anyone give me an insight as to how a `Non approved warranty` actually differs from an `Approved Warranty`.


I`ve bought a car fro a main dealer and because the car is slightly older than the required age it doesn`t get into the manufacturers `Approved warranty scheme`. The make is still what the main dealer sells and as the warranty is `non approved` I`m wondering if it`s worth the paper it`s written on.

An approved warranty will usually be backed by the manufacturer, with their requirements and standards.

A non approved warranty will be by a third party warranty company, someone like Warrantywise or similar.

You need to look into what the actual warranty offered covers, they vary tremendously.

Although I agree in general it`s not really the most illuminating of answers.

Friend of mine has had a lot of work done on his SL55 through a non-manufacturer warranty company. He renews every year and has made many successful claims (so he tells me)
