afford F40 alternative?
Discussion
My Lotus 2-Eleven has the same performance stats as an F40 (which was made in 1989 - remarkable), but you can't get them for £20k and the engine delivery is linear, not a wait and whoosh turbo. So I reckon a VX220 turbo is the best (other than the 4cyl engine note and off boost performance), but you'd have to modify the hell out of it to achieve F40 performance - all possible within £20k though I reckon
You'd be much closer to F40 weight at the end of it too than with my car. If you wanted the ridiculous driving position of an F40 that would require modifications too

lets not talk about on paper or in essence. Lets talk driving experience only. What would give Monkey the closest to that buzz without financial ruin?
I think "most similar to drive" would be a Noble if you could get one, a tuned VX220 turbo if you couldn't. "Most fun on track" would probably be some kind of superlight Caterham. having not driven both the only car that would seriously come to mind is the ultima, no turbo mind.
but not for 20k but 29k gets you..
