Chip/hole in headlamp

Glass headlamp, if I put some clear repair tape over the hole will it pass the MOT. (just a temp repair untill I can get a new glass)

Should do.

I usually put a bolob of clear silicon over - that temporary repair has lasted 5+ yrs.

My Volvo T4 had a small hole in its headlight from 2 years old.
11 years later it's fine with no MOT issues after a blob of super glue and a clear silicon blob treatment.

Blob of silicon it is then to keep the glass watertight.

Result, local windscreen place wil repair if I take the headlamp out.
