Subarus in Sweden: Time For Tea?

With the latest WRX STI unashamedly evoking a driving experience of the past, no excuse was required to revisit Subaru's rallying glory days with a quick video.

So here's five minutes of Richard Burns and Juha Kankkunen testing in Sweden (it couldn't be anywhere else today, could it?) before the 2000 Monte Carlo rally. Even with the skinny spiked tyres on, there's a fundamental rightness to the two-door Impreza's stance, isn't there?. Perhaps it's just nostalgia, but those arches, the paint scheme and the roof scoop all sit perfectly and just scream intent. Not pretty, but it did work.

Everything else you would want from a Subaru rally clip is here; that blare of the flat-four (the equal length headers taking away a some burble, remember), exquisitely controlled oversteer and gold wheels. Plenty of snow and slush, too. Dig out the bobble hat, pour some tea from the Thermos and enjoy.
