Accommodation in France (countryside)

Got an upcoming Eurotrip and in the past we've only been to cities so getting hostels and cheap/reasonable accommodation has been no problem.

This time we're looking at going around some of the smaller places (Le Havre, Loire Valley).

How much does the accommodation cost here? Would £20pp/night get us anything half decent?

Also would a group of 20-somethings be bored going around places like this in France or is there enough to see/do?
