That's pretty funny - how is anyone in a wheelchair supposed to etc etc

In a nearby town there are residents parking bays marked similarly - but the markings actually extend onto the pavements on both sides of a narrow road - dunno how they got that past the diversity awareness compliance outreach senior cabinet member, but they did (unless they just did it themselves one night).

I assume that the road is too narrow to allow for parking fully on it? The parking doesn't exactly look busy on that section road. Is a disabled parking bay really required?

Got a streetview link? Need to see it a bit bigger - the word "DISABLED" looks pretty shonky on the photo. Maybe written by the occupier unofficially? Wouldn't be the first time.

It's the main Peebles Road (A72) through the village of Walkerburn in the Scottish Borders. There is a row of cottages/houses along one side of the road and for about 300 metres of the road, all the occupants of the houses park one wheel on the pavement, it gets pretty full at night. There are actually 5 or 6 disabled bays marked like this dotted along the length of the road. Buses or lorries would struggle to pass each other if the cars were fully on the road. Nothing shows on streetview throughout the village.

Still looks home-made to me though. The parking bays half on and half off the road are standard fayre. It's the text that looks sus.

ETA Def home-made. Genuine parking bays which use half the footway are boxed all round, not just in the road. I'd imagine there's no sign post/plate behnd the "4x4" either.

Hah!

Reminds me of an old work colleague. He was disabled and had blue badge etc. His neighbour petitioned for a disabled parking space as he had a blue badge too, but was a bit of a knob/parking nazi and everyone was always a bit suspect about his disability.

The time comes and the parking space was agreed and painted. My old colleague immediately parked in it and popped his blue badge on the window. The neighbour could never understand the concept that the parking space wasn't his. Whenever it was free, my colleague would park in it. This guy would get so pissed about it - you could see him marching up and down the road etc!
